Early Morning Commotion

About 1 week ago, shortly after 7am, I found my quiet, peaceful morning interrupted by the screeching of 20-some-odd crows. Curious as to the cause for the commotion I took a stroll down the street in the direction of the noise. I came across a large tree from which crows practically swarmed. As I got closer the noise subsided and the crows took leave. 

Up in the branches, I saw this:

This poor owl was likely just trying to find a place to roost for the day but the crows wouldn't have it!

As I started walking away, some of the crows returned to try and harass but their attempt was weak and they all left again within a few minutes.
