This single oak leaf was lit up by the angle of the sun... it was the only oak leaf I found anywhere in the area.

NEW! Nature's Palettes

I've been seeing photo colour palettes floating around lately so I have decided to do some of my own. I think they're a great idea and they will be helpful in finding inspiration for myself and others.

iPhone Assortment

I got an iPhone 4 about 1 month ago and hadn't really used the camera much. My camera's battery is drained so I figured I might as well take the shots with the iPhone rather than miss them!

That Just Pruned Look

I've seen this bush before (I wish I had pictures of it prior), but it looks quite different now that it has had a 'haircut'.

I'd like to find out what kind of plant this is... these seed pods are really neat. They kind of look like little purses.

The mornings are getting colder, but it's still warm enough by around 8 am that the frost has melted into a lovely morning dew.

Early Morning Commotion

About 1 week ago, shortly after 7am, I found my quiet, peaceful morning interrupted by the screeching of 20-some-odd crows. Curious as to the cause for the commotion I took a stroll down the street in the direction of the noise. I came across a large tree from which crows practically swarmed. As I got closer the noise subsided and the crows took leave. 

Up in the branches, I saw this:

This poor owl was likely just trying to find a place to roost for the day but the crows wouldn't have it!

As I started walking away, some of the crows returned to try and harass but their attempt was weak and they all left again within a few minutes.

Fluffy Grasses

From a distance, these grasses look so fluffy!

Once you see them up close you can see that is mostly an illusion, but even then, they're still pretty fluffy-looking.

Multi-Coloured

I couldn't help but stop to take a close-up of this rock. It's beautiful!

Dainty White Blossoms

It's nice to see that summer's not gone yet. The weather is still warm and there are plenty of plants still in bloom!

Yearling Mallards

I was walking through a park the other day and saw lots of ducks! It looked like most of them were yearlings as the males' heads were not completely green yet. 

 One of them even came over to check me out...

... and then decided I wasn't very interesting.

Fluff

Saw this on my lawn, all by itself, so I went belly-down in the grass to take some pictures!
